Mariana Flores Bucio

Mexican singer and actress specializes in Contemporary Music and Mexican Vernacular Music. She has studied and collaborated with artists such as Wilfrido Terrazas, Carmina Escobar and artistic groups like the Orquesta of Baja California, Teatro Estudio de la Baja California, Teatro en el Incendio, Pendulo Cero, 9Spiral Project, and the Italo-American Institute of International Cooperation. She has performed leading roles in classical and contemporary operas, premiered several new musical works, and performed on important stages as a vernacular Mexican music singer. Her singing has led her to perform in Perú, Costa Rica, Hungría, United States , as well as diverse states in Mexico, including Mexico City, Cancún, Queretaro, Zacatecas and Baja California. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Music at the Autonomous University of Baja California and her MFA degree in Music Performance at UC San Diego under the tutelage of the prestigious Soprano, Susan Narucki. Mariana is co-director of the vocal ensemble "Radical Ensamble" at Tijuana, B.C. Mex., and she is currently pursuing a DMA in Performance at UC San Diego.

Natalia Gomez


 

Natalia Merlano Gómez is a musician, singer, improviser, creator, and teacher born in Colombia. She has been captivated by folk music worldwide, especially Latin American, Academic Contemporary Music, and Experimental Music. Additionally, she is curious about theater and explorations around video and photography. She studied an M.A in Contemporary Music - Singing at Staatliche Hochschule fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart, Germany, being part of different multidisciplinary projects combing music, theatre, dance, literature, and visual arts. Yielding good results, she did her bachelor's at the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas in Bogota, Colombia, and graduated as a singer with honors. Since around 2009, she has premiered many works by composers worldwide and asked for new pieces. Most recently, she presented her first album called: Resonancias Entrelazadas. It includes 15 works written by women composers from different countries and improvisations with women performers. As well the project contains 15 videos and a podcast. As a composer and improviser, she has worked with different ensembles and collectives interested in graphics scores and indeterminate music, all related to Contemporary Music. Her compositions are like songs with texts and voice experiments that sometimes turn into pieces.

 

Stefanie Quintin-Avila

Soprano Stefanie Quintin-Avila graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Music with a bachelor's degree in Vocal Pedagogy and Performance (cum laude). She attended the Vielklang Akademie für Alte Musik in Germany and the Modern Academy in Hong Kong; specializing in the performance of early music and contemporary music, respectively. As a soloist, she has performed in various international festivals such as the Asia-Europe New Music Festival (Vietnam), International Arts Festival (Taiwan), soundSCAPE Festival (Italy), International Bamboo Organ Festival (Philippines), and many others. She was featured in concerts with orchestras such as the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Lyric Opera Orchestra, Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, Manila Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Bach Choir and Orchestra, and the Asia Traditional Orchestra.

Stefanie is a recipient of the Delphic Lyra Award for Traditional Music at the 3rd International Junior Delphic Games (2007), PGMA Presidential Award for Culture and the Arts (2008), and the Rey Paguio Scholarship (2009-2014). She is a prize winner (Opera-Professional Category) at the 2nd ASEAN Vocal Competition (2018) She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Contemporary Music Performance at the University of California San Diego, under the tutelage of Prof. Susan Narucki. Miguel Zazueta

Miguel Angel Zazueta Is an interdisciplinary voice artist specialized in contemporary music and opera, from Tijuana, Mexico. He has studied and collaborated with artists like Wilfrido Terrazas, Carmina Escobar, Yuval Sharon, and Meredith Monk, as well as artistic groups like the LA Phil New Music Group, the Orquesta of Baja California, Teatro en el Incendio, Meredith Monk & Ensemble ,and the ItaloAmerican Institute of International Cooperation. He obtained his MA in Contemporary Music Performance in UC San Diego, were he is currently pursuing a DMA degree on the same area, under the tutelage of the Soprano Susan Narucki. Hi is the founder and codirector of “Radical Ensamble” one of his main projects, which is an interdisciplinary vocal ensemble with singers from the Baja California Region.
